Growing up can be rough.
Those middle school, high school years often dictate the trajectory of a person’s life.
As a kid, I wasn’t particularly good at anything.
Terrible at sports. Average grades. Bronze medalist in awkwardness.
I wasn’t even the best at that.
It took a toll on my self-esteem.
Then one day, that changed.
I discovered music — playing it.
Under the mentorship of 3 truly great men – my music teachers:
Mr. Bill Monday, Mr. Hal Briggs, and Mr. Dan Stowell —
I found myself.
I discovered I was actually good at something.
And that through practice and discipline,
I could become great.
Through my experiences with them – everything changed.
The things I learned as a music student shaped every other part of my life.
I learned leadership. I learned discipline. I learned how to give a shit about doing things to the very best of my ability, no matter the circumstances.
I wouldn’t be the man I am today without those teachers.
For years, I’ve wished the world had more people like them.
And now… we have a way to make that happen.
I’m thrilled to announce the Soul Anarchist Music Scholarship Fund.
Its mission is simple:
Fully fund the college education of up-and-coming music educators —
students who show promise of becoming the next Mr. Mondays, Mr. Briggses, Mr. Stowells.
By helping them graduate debt-free,
we empower them to hit the ground running — becoming the best music teachers they can be- instead of burning themselves out at a second job just to cover loan payments
ready to pour into the lives of thousands of kids…
just like me.
Soul Anarchy means living life on your own terms —
and then helping others do the same.
This is the “helping others” part –
On the longest night of the year – Winter Solstice – we are lighting up the darkness together.
We are throwing a Winter Solstice ball – a virtual dance party- hosted in homes of fellow soul anarchists like you, all around the world.
Imagine – events dotting the globe – full of beautiful people giving generously to the next Mr. Stowells, Mr. Briggses, and Mr. Mondays.
I’ll be live streaming a special two hour DJ set of dreamy Progressive House beats into those house parties – that will make the night magical.
I invite you to join us.
Whether it’s just you, or you gather your whole crew —
you can be part of something beautiful.
Here’s how to host a Winter Solstice Ball:
1. Gather Your Crew
Tell people you’re hosting a Solstice Ball. Keep it simple.
Ask everyone to bring something — wine, snacks, cookies.
It lightens your load and locks them in.
People show up when they know you’re counting on them.
If you use Facebook Events, great.
Create one and invite more people than you think you’ll need — about a third will actually come.
Drop this video in the event. Let them know it’s a fundraiser for future music teachers.
They’ll arrive ready to be generous.
2. Set the Vibe
Pick a dress code that gives people an excuse to show off.
Everyone’s got something nice they never wear. Tonight gives them a reason.
“Dress to Impress.”
“Cocktail Attire.”
White party.
Whatever feels right for your crew.
Skip costume themes unless your crowd is built for that.
The last thing you want is someone staying home because they don’t own an ugly Christmas sweater.
Do a potluck dinner or snacks before the music begins at 7om Mountain.
Eating 60–90 minutes beforehand gives your night a smooth takeoff.
3. Dial In the Music
I’ve got the soundtrack covered — 7 to 9pm Mountain.
Your job is to stream the YouTube channel on your TV, with good speakers.
Once it starts, the night runs itself.
Test your setup earlier in the day.
Stream any video from my channel to make sure your TV and audio are working.
If something needs fixing, you’ll have time before guests arrive.
You don’t need to ask anyone for money.
I’ll tell a short story about my music teachers and make the ask for you.
A donation QR code will pop up on screen.
All you have to do is keep the stream running.
Thank you for being part of the 2025 Winter Solstice Ball,
benefiting the Soul Anarchist Music Scholarship.
No matter how you participate —
you will make a difference.
